#Letter: Ashton College gives thanks

With one local newspaper and so many schools in the area, we are dependent on you to share our school news and student achievements, and thank you for this platform.

Ashton College Group CEO, Andre Buys writes:

As we get to the end of another year, I would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation for your continued support.

With one local newspaper and so many schools in the area, we are dependent on you to share our school news and student achievements, and thank you for this platform.

Our sincerest thanks to the Dolphin Coast community and our parents for their continued support as Ashton continues to grow. Ashton students have once again ‘Made a Difference’ throughout the year, with R43 000 raised by our Debutantes and Squires with two of the nominated charities, Bobbi Bear and The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund each receiving R10 000.

Matrics donated their school shoes as they left the campus for the last time, and the sandwich and fruit drive continued throughout the year, to name but a few.

A very sincere thanks to the people in our community who we depend on daily: the Traffic Department, Saps, Medi Response (our partners for sport and events), UIP, KDM, frontline workers and businesses.

Facility upgrades in 2023 include 15 new classrooms, a new Adventure Club, and an enclosed Learn-to-Swim pool with a built-in resistance swimming jet.

The Ashlings will boast their own 100-seater theatre. Ashton is introducing a new learning area in the Senior College offering civil technology, combining plumbing and civil techniques, which contribute to the building industry.

On the sport front the multi-purpose astro turf will be a new facility to accommodate additional hockey and rugby practices, soccer matches and JC cricket matches, as well as a nine-lane athletics track.

Two new sporting codes will be introduced, namely basketball and girls’ touch rugby.

I wish each and everyone a blessed Christmas and best wishes for a successful 2023.
