#Letter: Painfully slow service at licensing offices

"The actual processing took only 10 minutes, but the person processing the renewals took two hours to process 10 licence discs" - Sivie Govinder.

Sivie Govinder of Westbrook writes:

Thank you for recently highlighting the public’s frustration about the long queues and slow service at the Ballito licensing offices.

This is a widespread problem and something really needs to be done about the horrific waiting times for car licence renewals.

I had to renew my car licence and went to the licensing office on December 31.

I arrived at 8.10am and my renewal was only processed by 12.40pm.

After two hours of standing I asked for a chair. Most people were left standing for the entire period.

The actual processing took only 10 minutes, but the person processing the renewals from the morning took two hours to process 10 licence discs.
