I would like to bring to the attention of the traffic department the high number of unroadworthy vehicles with very loud exhaust systems becoming an ever-increasing nuisance.
Owners of bakkies, sports cars and motorcycles show little regard to residents in terms of noise pollution.
And apart from loud exhaust systems, the spinning of wheels, high acceleration, speeding and the potential of a vehicle going out of control add to the problem and compromise the safety of others.
They disturb the peace and it is particularly bad during weekends.
It is most frustrating trying to get hold of any person at the KwaDukuza municipality to report this. One dials number after number but no one answers.
The municipal manager must surely know about the situation but seemingly does nothing about it.
I hereby demand that the authorities acquire the equipment needed to measure the noise output of vehicles and prosecute the perpetrators, or even take the vehicles off the road.
