#Letter: Too many road accidents

There is no doubt that KZN has the worst drivers in our country and we take our lives in our hands every time we have to drive on our roads"- Paddy Galloti.

Palm Lakes resident Paddy Galloti writes:

I cannot bare to hear of another horrific accident on our KZN roads!

Firstly, my heartfelt condolences to the families of the three people who tragically lost their lives last week in the horrific accident you reported on.

Today (Monday) in Durban on the M41 a truck, 47 cars and 22 injured!

This is a daily occurrence and is getting worse. When are our traffic and police departments going to get serious about cracking down on reckless driving?

There is no doubt that KZN has the worst drivers in our country and we take our lives in our hands every time we have to drive on our roads.

They could start with spot fines for all those fast cars who drive around without number plates. I was always under the impression that was against the law?

Then fine the impatient drivers who insist on driving in the emergency lane through single lane roadworks, which prevents ambulances and emergency vehicles reaching their destinations urgently.

Unless our traffic department get absolutely serious, with more visibility and implement spot fining to every vehicle breaking the law in any way, I can only pray that God will intervene in some way to stop our horrific and unacceptable road carnage.
