#Letter: Visibility a key safety factor

"Dangerous situations are created when motorists are suddenly confronted by people in the dark wearing dark clothing" - Barbara Millican.

Ballito resident Barbara Millican writes:

I would like to appeal to all pedestrians, walkers, runners and cyclists moving along our roads to please wear light coloured clothing at night such as white, yellow and orange attire.

Luminous vests, leg bands, shorts and longs should be worn for their own safety between 5pm and 6am.

Dangerous situations are created when motorists are suddenly confronted by people in the dark wearing dark clothing.

I also urge all employers to supply their staff with reflectors so they are more visible when walking in the dark.
