Peter Smit of Port Zimbali Estate:
I get the Courier every week and have been looking for a response to your article about the Tongaat River bridge collapsing and the proposed ferry service for moving vehicles across the river.
It surprises me that up to now nobody has responded as the proposed ferry moving 20 cars at a time will create a queue of 1 500 cars long after one hour.
However, this could be an opportunity for developing the area with hotels and various food and drink outlets.
They can also have service centres that can service motor vehicles while you wait.
All this will create massive job opportunities and housing developments in the area.
As there will be so many people moving around, the old bridge can be fixed for pedestrians only.
