#Letter: A good example to follow

"Surely rival national retail chains and other local stores can emulate this fine example?" - Simon Dehal.

Simon Dehal of Verulam writes:

The Shoprite group is to be commended for making available for some time now, a 600g loaf of brown bread- a staple food- at the unbelievably low price of R5, about R17 being the going rate.

In addition, the stores provide some basic sandwiches (two slices) for R5 and 8-pack sanitary pads for only R5.

In this day when poverty, destitution and unemployment are rife, such items are a big blessing.

Surely rival national retail chains and other local stores can emulate this fine example?
