Residents provide feedback on problems they want addressed at upcoming imbizo series
Streetlights, potholes and the ongoing electricity issues are of primary concern.
We asked residents what issues they would like to have addressed at the 2025 mayoral imbizo roadshow.
Here’s a snapshot of some of the top issues raised:
Michael Pearce – Electricity issues, bylaw enforcement, taxi enforcement – basically just everything the municipality is currently being paid to do but chooses not too.
Jack Abrahams – Just to get the basics right. Streetlights, traffic lights, upkeep of verges, proper pothole repairs, etc.
Walter Hill – Street lights in Dolphin Crescent (from Waterberry towards Salt Rock). These lights are sometimes on in the day but never at night… And that’s on a main street!
Ann McDonnell – Verges and storm water needs maintenance. Roads getting holey from the rain.
Julia Mart – Pavements, working traffic lights, pothole repairs, maintenance of overgrown trees and shrubs.
Charmaine Kotze – Get the KwaDukuza municipality to remain open if the temperature is over 27 degrees. Install aircons or fans etc. Why must business halt as a result? Lots of people have to work under these conditions. What makes them any different?
Ayabonga Zwane – The promenade, street lights, storm water drains, potholes and grass growing through the roads.
Ray de Bruyn – Nearby informal settlements tapping into the electricity with illegal connections. When will they provide power to these settlements as the illegal connections cause overload and short circuits when it rains or when the wind blows?
Tammy McDonnell Colley – Ballito Promenade.
Barbi Jaffit Bauskin – Street lights and potholes.
Josh Daniel – Informal traders and the escalating vagrants.
