Hope Cup comes to Simbithi

Simbithi Country Club will welcome celebrities during the Hope Cup invitational.

The celebrity golf day that last year drew names like US Masters Champion Charl Schwartzel, and pro golfers Andrew Georgiou and Brandon Stone, will this year be played on the beautiful Simbithi course.
The Hope Cup invitational raised a phenomenal R700 000 for Ingane Yami Children’s Village last year, and the organisers hope that the event on Monday, January 6 will be just as successful.
So far they already have commitments from Darryn Clarke, Simon Hobday, Tommy Fleetwood (UK), Brandon Stone, Brandon Grace, Peter Uihlein (USA), Darryn Fickhardt, Michael Hollick, Chubby Chandelar, Dave Usendorf (commentator), Greg Hearman, Glen Murrary, Butch James, Shaun Pollock, David Miller and Ultra Simple Golf TV coverage with Don and Muss Gammon.
Speaking on behalf of the organisers from Kloof Harvest Church, Charlene Erasmus said they are looking forward to another exciting and significant day.
She explained that the professional golfers are paired with businessmen, and as they are invited they do not pay to play.
“The Hope Cup came about as a result of a relationship between Ingane Yami Children’s Village and Schwartzel and a connection with South African Golf Course Architect Peter Matkovich. The collective vision was simply to use golf as a platform to change lives and rewrite stories.”
Ingane Yami (meaning “My Child” in Zulu) Children’s Village is a Cluster Foster Care Scheme situated near Shongweni Dam in KZN.
“The vision of Ingane Yami Children’s Village is to rescue children, rebuild families, restore lives and release leaders. It’s all about Hope and realising potential – one child at a time,” said Erasmus.
