Two different lives, one lofty goal

Soccer stars in the making.

Nqobi Gumede and Kayden Robinson are both nine years old and attend Brazilian Soccer Schools North Coast (BSS). Even though they have vastly different backrounds, they have one goal – to play professional soccer.
Nqobi attends Sizani school and lives in a small house in Shakas Head township with his sister, grandparents, mom and three uncles. He first arrived at BSS training without shoes, but after only two years he has distinguished himself as one of the best players in the program. As a development player, his kit, boots, transport and coaching is sponsored by BSS North Coast. He also has the opportunity to secure a scholarship with a professional club at the age of 13, affording him a real opportunity to make a career out of soccer. If successful, he will be coached, educated and live at the BSS academy at no cost, while he goes on trial with a professional club.
Kayden lives in Ballito with his parents and attends Crawford North Coast prep where he excels academically and in sport. Kayden gained his BSS level three last month, becoming one of the youngest players in the country to achieve this. Even though they both have different lifestyles and circumstances, they both have the opportunity through BSS to play soccer at the highest level, both locally and overseas.
