Futebol de Salão on the North Coast
Brazilian Soccer Schools will run Futebol de Salão leagues at Ashton International College.
All of the great Brazilian soccer players from Pele to Ronaldino began their football education with Futebol de Salão (FDS). Pele, winner of three world cups with Brazil and widely regarded as the best player ever to grace a soccer field, said “I developed my skills playing Futebol de Salão in my home town of Bauru. The ingenuity, instinct and skill of the players, both individually and as a team, is developed through playing FDS”.
Played on small sided fields, the major difference to conventional Action Arenas is that FDS has no rebound walls and the ball used is a low bounce size two and four ball. This encourages constant circulation and recycling of the ball, fast possession play, with creative passing and movement to support the ball or make space. The size two weighted ball is easier to control, which is a great confidence builder for young players. The ball also remains close to a players foot, increasing the number of touches, which is a basic requirement for skill acquisition.
Brazilian Soccer Schools (BSS) owns FDS and leagues will be played at Ashton International College every Monday night. BSS will also introduce adult (dads and lads) Futsal leagues using a size four ball. Medals, trophies and prizes will be sponsored by La Piazza. If you are a member of BSS you can enjoy a 20% discount at La Piazza (terms and conditions apply).
