Ballito lifesavers off to Bloem

Six Ballito kids are off to the SA National Stillwater Lifesaving Championships.

Six members of the Ballito Lifesaving Club will represent Kwa-Zulu Natal at the SA National Stillwater Lifesaving Championships in Bloemfontein from February 26 to March 1.
What is more, all the members only started the sport this season and have become top provincial competitors and are looking forward to the national champs.
The team has six young and bright members.
Ludwig Herbst (9) is the number one ranked nipper for Stillwater Lifesaving in KZN. He will compete in a three pool events and the dam swim.
Zoe Frank (11) is the top ranked nipper in her age group in KZN. She will be looking to set more national marks, as she is the current LSA record holder for girls of nine years in the 50m Manikin Rescue and 100m Manikin Rescue with fins.
Chanel Bates (11) is ranked second in KZN in her age group and will be looking to compete for a podium spot in her events, including the Iron Nipper event.
Milla Herbst (12) is the top ranked nipper in her age group in KZN. She will compete in four pool events, the dam swim and the Iron Nipper.
Kate Theunissen (16) is ranked first in the girls under 15 age group in KZN. She achieved two LSA 2014 national qualifying times. She was shortlisted to represent the province in the 50m manikin rescue and 100m manikin rescue with Fins. Theunissen will also compete in the 100m manikin tow and tube event in the pool, the long swim, Malibu board race and diamond lady event in the dam.
Megan Bates (16) is the number one ranked girl in the under 16 age group in KZN. She achieved six LSA 2014 national qualifying times and has been shortlisted to represent KZN in all six of these events. She will also compete in the long swim, Malibu board race and diamond lady event in the dam.
Through the generosity of the Ashton Swimming Academy they have been able to hone their skills weekly which has helped them achieve their results. The team is also very grateful that Link Seed has kindly sponsored their kit for Nationals.
