Ballito Dolphins fit and raring to go

The Ballito Dolphins have been hard at work and are looking forward to the season.

The Ballito Dolphins rugby 1st team are ready to be put through their paces ahead of the upcoming season.
The Dolphins were set to play against the South African deaf rugby side next Saturday, but due to a lack of sponsorship for their oponents the game was called off.
Nevertheless, Coach Mick Rumble is excited for the season and believes his squad is in a good place at the moment.
The team has been hard at work on their fitness levels and spent a few weeks training at Salt Rock beach with former Sharks massage therapist and Bob’s Bootcamp owner, Bob Russell.
“We started off with Bob and the transition from beach to turf has been great, the fitness levels and balls skills are looking good and the guys are working hard,” said Rumble.
Players have been practicing at Crawford College, but Rumble is still hoping that their new ground at Sugar Rush will be ready for the beginning of the regular season, which starts in April.
“I believe that the ground is going to be flattened this week, which is really exciting. I am really looking forward to having a home and a clubhouse for the foreseeable future,” said Rumble.
Looking at his team, Rumble sees the senior players like Craig Harris, Warren Fourie, Tony Ferreira and David Kapuya taking the team forward this -year. However, he is short of players in the forwards pack.
“The biggest place we are lacking is in the tight five. If we do suffer some injuries, we could be in a bit of trouble.”
As far as preparation has gone, Rumble is quietly confident about having a good season.
“We believe we have the ability with the players we have and their fitness and skills to be a threat to all the sides in our division,” said Rumble.
The Dolphins finished third on the second division log last year.
Rumble also thanked the Lockeroom gym for sponsoring a year’s free gym subscription for the players and Pharos medical aid for affordable health insurance for the team.
Rumble also encouraged old members to come back and play for the club.         You can contact Mick on 071 069 1736 or Sue Robertson on 078 011 3388.
