Equestrian success for young riders

Local riders take home some silverware at the KZN Sanesa qualifiers.

The first of KZN Sanesa qualifiers for 2014 was held at Shongweni on February 1 and 2.
Local girl, Tyla Jade Hooper, from Crawford North Coast, riding Mary Poppins, was placed second in three disciplines namely working hunter, 70/80cm jumping and ideal time. Sabrina Poppmeier from Ashton International College, riding Russian Warning, was placed fourth in her ideal time jumping class. Both Sabrina and Tyla-Jade ride with Kim Isaaks at Whickers Paddock equestrian centre.
Sanesa is a organisation dedicated to promoting all forms of equestrian sport within South African schools. Recognised by the South African Equestrian Federation every province holds up to four multi discipline competitions in the first seven months of the year. The eight riders with the most accumulated points in each discipline in these qualifiers then proceed to represent their province at the annual Sanesa National Championships. Currently there are fifteen different equestrian competition disciplines.
