The North Coast is blessed with good surf and better surfers, as is the case with 16-year-old Jade Mets.
The Salt Rock teenager recently competed in the France vs SA vs KZN junior international surf contest at New Pier in Durban.
She performed exceptionally well and secured a spot in the final after winning the semi finals.
She finished in third place overall in her age group, ahead of Alice le Moigne of France.
Looking ahead, Mets is working towards a spot in the world junior championships in 2015. She hopes to represent her country with this year being her final year in the junior division.
Mets has been surfing for eight years and loves to compete. She is a team rider for Lizzy and has sponsorships from Carve sunglasses and Spider surfboards.
Her family recently moved to Salt Rock from Umhlanga, and Mets is in grade 11 at Crawford College North Coast.
