Netball girls train at Prime
The KZN U16 action netball team tested out the altitude chamber.
Ballito resident and KZN U16 action netball coach Jenni McCullum’s team spent Saturday morning at Prime Human performance institute at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Their physical trainer, Bob Russell of Bob’s Boot camp, organised the session for McCullum’s under 16 and under 14 teams ahead of their provincial championships, to be held in Pretoria at the end of the month.
The girls did a fitness session in Prime’s altitude chamber which gave them a taste of playing on the highveld.
Dr Craig Roberts, sports physician to the Springboks, talked to them about recovery, while the Sharks biokineticist, Jimmy Wright, discussed “It is more than just about sport”. Sharks player Keegan Daniel spoke on the importance of having fun.
Russell said he was happy to organise the session for the girls.
“I wanted all the girls to see the enormity of what they have achieved by qualifying to be selected for these teams,” he said.
