Eight kids represented Dolphin Coast primary schools team at the KZN regional trials in Pietermaritzburg.

Four local boys and four girls recently represented the Dolphin Coast primary schools team at the KZN regional trials in Pietermaritzburg. There was an A and B section and all players played singles, doubles and mixed doubles. The young team took some valuable experience from the tournament and two of the girls were selected to KZN team. Paige Wise (Umhlali Prep) was selected for the KZN A team, while Jess Aylward (Crawford College North Coast) was chosen for the B team.
Results for the local players competing in the Durban mixed league has been very encouraging in the first half of the competition played so far.
The first team, fielding four juniors on a rotational basis, is still unbeaten. The big hurdle will be the match against the strong Hillcrest team this weekend.
The second team, also fielding two juniors, had a tough start, but after losing their first match amid confusion over who needed to play, came back strongly to post two successive wins.
The third team is really the surprise package thus far. They managed to beat Chatsworth for the first time time in three years and a strong Glenashley side. With only two matches left for them, we will be holding thumbs that they can maintain their unbeaten record.
Wayne Atherston and Di Goss is the only couple with an unbeaten record at this stage, with Wayne Saul and Danie Horn close behind them. Danica Brewer, Kim Martins and Megan Bates are all closely together in the ladies group.
This is without doubt the bests first half of the mixed league season for North Coast. We hope the great team and club spirit will continue to add to the joy of this league.
