The ‘Maritzburg Collegians were sent home with their tails between their legs as the Ballito Dolphins teams cleaned up on Saturday in front of their home crowd at Sugar Rush.
The first team dotted down four times and converted twice to trample Collegians 24-10 and secure a second consecutive bonus point and third place on the log, behind Richards Bay and Hillcrest.
The Dolphins’ Siya Ngcobo scored two early tries in the first half which was answered with two unconverted tries by the boys from PMB to bring the half time score to 12-10 in favour of the Dolphins.
Dolphins Juniors chairman, Mark Svenningsen said the age old rugby saying, that the forwards win the game for you and the backs determine by how much, proved to be true as a dominating performance, especially from the front three resulted in front foot ball for the backs to show off their skills.
Chris Anker and Zam Mthembu each scored a try for the Dolphins in the second half, contributing to a well-deserved 24-10 victory over the Collegians.
The Dolphins second team were put through their paces by a much older and bigger pack of forwards.
However, man of the match, Andrew Livingston, who pulled off a hat trick, and his fellow backs were on fire. Mphilo Mthembu completed the Dolphins’ tally of four tries and the Dolphins narrowly beat the PMB Collegians 26-25.
The second half was touch and go and two missed kicks cost Collegians the match.
This Saturday, April 23 the Dolphins will host the Durban Mets and there will be a bring and braai after the game. The club will provide the braais and the community is invited to enjoy a relaxing family day.
