Township showboating against crime
The final match on Sunday between Seven Stars and Young Stars was a game that caught everyone's attention and did not disappoint.

Brilliant football from the Shaka’s Head soccer teams left hundreds of the township soccer fans hungry for more at the Shaka’s Head sports field last weekend.
Ten teams competed for a soccer kit and R1100 during the Sport Against Crime tournament.
“This tournament was started in 2013, when crime was on the rise in the township. Soccer is in the hearts of almost 80 percent of the township residents, so if they can all be on the ground for one weekend, very few crimes will be committed,” said the organiser, Thabo Godfrey Selamolela.
The final match on Sunday between Seven Stars and Young Stars was a game that caught everyone’s attention. These favoured teams did not disappoint.
The game started at a high pace as both teams were determined to take the lead. However both teams had a strong defense and it was only towards the end of the second half that Seven Stars’ defense was caught out. A stunning header from Khanyisani Mhlongo of Young Stars found the back of the net and would ultimately prove to be the only goal of the game, handing his team victory.
Despite their defeat, Seven Stars’ coach Warren Nqambayi praised his players for their fighting spirit.
“We need to work a bit harder on our middle field. That is where I think we are lacking,” said Nqambayi.
Selamolela is appealing for sponsors for future tournaments with anything, from soccer kits to prizes for the teams. He can be contacted at 073 7301 166.
