Impis reign supreme
With the game heading for a draw, some good work down the right saw Greg White clinch it for the Impis, 2 – 1.
After the previous week’s hockey games were cancelled due to water logged fields, the two Umhlali Impis teams were rearing to go on Sunday.
In the early game the Impis 1 team came up against the Mangosuthu University side (MUT). The Impis dominated from the start with their opponents unable to match their tempo and skill. The Impis 1 team showed no mercy and ultimately demolished MUT by 15 goals to 0.
The goal scorers were Warwick Reed 3, Corben Sharp 4, Damon Van Hemert 4, Jason Nicholls 2 and Nathan Green. The Man of the match award was shared between Corben Sharp and Damon Van Hemert.
Umhlali Impis 2 came up against a resolute Durban University of Technology (DUT) side. The game was an excellent contest with both teams fighting hard to get the ascendancy.
The Impis were the first to score but DUT equalised after half time through some deft manoeuvring of their forwards.

This Sunday the Impis 1 side will play UKZN at home (Crawford College) at 9.30am, while the Impis 2 team has a bye.
