Umhlali Impis make their mark

Hockey lovers united on Crawford North Coast’s new AstroTurf over the past two weekends for the inaugural games of the recently founded Umhlali Impis Hockey Club.
Head of coaching, Blake Goosen said the club is a fantastic new collaboration between the North Coast Hockey Academy, Umhlali Hockey Club and Crawford North Coast.
“It was great to see a lot of new faces in the club and both the senior and junior sections were well supported, providing action packed hockey for the supporters,” said Goosen.
He said the U11 girls stood out as they were undefeated and played exceptional hockey.
The club is open for anyone to join. Kids over five years can join the well over 100 hockey players in the junior section. High school kids from U14 fall into the senior section, which is open to adults up to 70 years old.
“We have mini hockey every Friday night for the juniors and seniors play on Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6.30pm to 8pm.”
