Fire on the dance floor
Ballito's Danceweb Studio dancers performed with excellence at the recent Battle of the Giants competition.
More than 1400 dance athletes gathered from around the country to take part in The Battle of the Giants, where Ballito’s Danceweb Studios held their heels high.
Ashton International College‘s Sbabalwe Tunzi and Nobukhosi Zulu competed in one of the toughest sections with 86 dancers battling for the podium. Tunzi was placed third in the U11 amateur division and Zulu was placed in the Top 12.
Jordyn Grace and Mia Bullock, both from Umhlali Primary School, came fourth in SA, making it to the Top 5 to represent the country in the World Championships in October.
Jed Bullock also scooped three gold medals with his crew Dyenamic, as well as one silver and one bronze medal for his Solo Battles and Hip Solo categories. To top it off, he claimed the ultimate The Battle of the Achievers Award, securing himself an air ticket to Europe as well as sponsorship by Lara Travel, Soviet and Sun City Hotels.
Jed has recently returned from Holland where he has worked for three months under the guidance of the respected world choreographer, Ton Greten.
Owners of Danceweb Studios, Craig and Mandy Bullock, said they have come a long way.
“It has been a long and incredible year attending all the regionals in each city starting with UKZN, Gauteng Regionals, Cape Town regionals and finally clinching enough points at the Battle of the Giants National to make the cream of the crop,” said Mandy.
