Umhlali’s sweetest run

The challenging route brought out the very best in the pupils taking part, and lots of talent was on display.

More than 300 pupils from 16 schools from Durban central and Durban North came to the Dolphin Coast to take part in the Annual Inter-School Cross Country Sugar Cane run, hosted by Umhlali Preparatory School last weekend.

Umhlali Top 10 Results:

Boys U9: eight – Levi Wingrove; ninth – Callum Skewis

Girls U10: fourth – Amy Hargroves; seventh – Amy Du Plessis; tenth – Eden Heyns

Boys U10: fourth – Tyron Newell; seventh – Ty Haynes; eight – Joe Clarkson

Girls U11: second – Brigitte Von Buddenbrock

Boys U11: ninth – Devan Keenan

Boys U12: fourth – Seth Rose; seventh – Kian Bester; eight – Asher Wingrove; ninth – Matthew Beuster

Girls Open: fourth – Janke Spangenberg; fifth – Georgina Church

Boys Open: fifth – Alex Van der Merwe; ninth – Tristan Turner

The following pupils will be taking part in various trials this week:

Brigitte von Buddenbrock, who was selected for the Durban Central Cross Country team, will be taking part in the Umlazi cross country trials to be held in Newcastle this weekend.

Michael de Beer, Aryan Singh and Devan Keenan will be taking part in the KZN U11 Cricket trials this weekend.

Aarti and Archana Datharam are currently taking part in the African Youth Chess Championships in Port Elizabeth.
