Junior Dolphins rake in awards
The teams all did extremely well in their age groups with the most notable performances coming from the U12 team.
On National Heritage Day the Ballito Dolphins Junior Rugby section shared the public holiday at Sugar Rush Park and held their annual awards prize-giving day.
For a section that has been rehabilitated from zero members just two years ago, they now boast more than 80 junior members with teams competing in the U7 to U11 age groups.
The juniors are now led by junior chairman Mike Cumming, a group of five coaches and a willing band of parents who dedicate Friday nights to training; and nine Sundays during the season to participating in the junior leagues around Durban.
The teams all did extremely well in their age groups with the most notable performances coming from the U12 team who ran the larger Durban clubs close in all their games.
This can only but augur well for the future as these players will feed into the Ballito Dolphins’ senior sides in due course and this will help the club to continue its meteoric rise to making it a club competing for regional honours in the not too distant future.
