KwaDukuza United FC strike to win
The team beat one of the premier league's top teams Ajax Cape Town
Last Saturday KwaDukuza United FC, known as ‘The Jaguar Boys’, proved that in football anything is possible.
The team beat one of the premier league’s top teams Ajax Cape Town, earning themselves a place in the top 16 of the Nedbank Cup.
The game ended in a 2-2 draw and KwaDukuza won 4-3 on penalties.
The ABC Motsepe League players (the third division of the country’s professional football league) played with heart and surprised everyone by matching the big boys goal for goal, coming out of the first half at 1-1.
In the second half Nxumalo put Ajax ahead in the 67th minute making it 2-1. But the lead was short lived as KwaDukuza leveled matters in the 71st minute.

Ajax Cape Town’s Abel Mabaso missed a chance to clinch the win in the 88th minute, which forced the match into extra time. The visiting team dominated in extra time, but failed to take advantage of any of their opportunities, so the game went into a shoot-out, where KwaDukuza reigned victorious.
Team captain Khayalethu Mjoli said they went out to enjoy themselves and play their best game.
“The end result was the last thing on our minds. All we had to do was to treat the game as normal and fortunately the result was in our favour,” said Mjoli.
The Nedbank top 16 team draw will be done on Thursday and Mjoli said they are not worried about who they would go up against.
“For now we are concentrating on our league game on Wednesday (March 14) against KwaMashu All Stars,” said Mjoli.
He thanked all the soccer fans who went out to the Sugar Ray Xulu stadium in Durban to support them.
“You played a huge role in motivating us!”
