Gear up for the Sugar Rush Classic

The routes will all follow those of local MTB trail park, Hola Trails

It’s time to grease that bicycle chain and dust of those trail running shoes for the 5th Sugar Rush Classic on Sunday, March 26.

Following on the success of the previous 4 Sugar Rush Classics, a 19km and 45km trail will challenge the mountain cyclists while the kids can enjoy a 2, 5 or 10km fun ride, plus there will be both a 5km and 12km trail run for those who prefer the challenge of conquering the terrain with their own two feet.

The routes will all follow those of local MTB trail park, Hola Trails.

“MTB and trail running are both fast-growing sports, which are attracting ever-increasing numbers of riders, trail runners and families to enjoy the outdoors,” said Sugar Rush Marketing and events manager, Gill von Buddenbrock.

“With the support and enthusiasm of all our sponsors and participants, the Sugar Rush Classic is destined to be an even bigger success in 2017 and we look forward to growing this event to make Ballito a sought-after area for local and tourist families as well as cycling and running enthusiasts.”

The Sugar Rush Classic isn’t the only big thing happening at Sugar Rush park over the weekend of March 25 and 26. While Sunday will belong to the cyclists and trail runners, Saturday will see the first rugby matches in the Great Railroad Brewing Company Dolphins’ season, which will include first and second team matches against the Durban Mets and the much anticipated clash between the Dolphins Old Boys and the SA Springbok Legends team.

So make sure to mark the 25th and 26th on your calendar and get over to Sugar Rush Park for a weekend that won’t soon be forgotten.

To get to Sugar Rush Park, follow the R102 South from Ballito Drive and turn right on Esenembi Road – there are signs along the R102 to help you find the way.
