Brett leaves opponents in his wake at KZN racing series

Round three of the KZN Regional Cross Country Motorbike Racing Series was held on Sunday

Over the weekend Royden Farm outside Ballito was turned into a dusty, noisy, motorcyclists’ paradise.

Round three of the KZN Regional Cross Country Motorbike Racing Series was held on Sunday and local professional rider Brett Swanepoel, racing for Pepson Plastics Husqvarna Racing, took a comfortable overall win.

“I was stoked to win this race for the second consecutive year, especially in my hometown,” he said.

Swanepoel, who changed manufacturers at the end of last year, had a rocky start to the year due to injury.

Brett Swanepoel, racing for Pepson Plastics Husqvarna Racing, won this weekend’s KZN Regional Cross Country Motorbike race.

Nevertheless, he showed his skill and talent by racing at a blistering pace.

“The track was quite dusty and got really tough as the day went on. Near the end it was particularly challenging, with one or two of the faster guys nipping at my heels.”

He has had an amazing year already, winning the 1st round of the Powersol Extreme Enduro and the 1st round of the SA National Cross Country of 2017.

“I would like to thank the owners of Royden Farm and Rainfarm for hosting this awesome event,” Swanepoel told The Courier.

He will be racing this weekend in round 2 of the SA National Cross Country and next weekend in round 3 of the SA National Enduro series. He visits Austria in June for the 2017 Erzberg race and Romania in July for the 2017 Romaniacs.

Other local riders who achieved podium finishes were Max Maidman, 2nd in the Masters category and Raymond Swanepoel, 2nd in the junior Weekend Off-road Warriors class.
