All eyes on the green for Zimbali charity golf day

The proceeds of the event will go toward the club's bright eyes cataract surgery camp project

Adding some action to a chilled weekend, Zimbali Rotary club held their charity golf day at the Zimbali Country club last Sunday.

The proceeds of the event, which was attended by more about 96 people, will go toward the club’s bright eyes cataract surgery camp project which aims to fund cataract surgeries for the elderly in the Ilembe district who would not otherwise be able to afford it.

Miss Ballito second princess Londeka Nzuza, Zimbali Rotary’s Nalina Valjee, Miss Ballito 2017 Brooke Haslam, Miss Ballito first princess Sharne Snyman and Zimbali Rotary president Kosh Thaver.

Zimbali Rotary club president Kosh Thaver said that since 2011, the project had helped restore sight to more than 765 elderly people.

“We contribute about R 1500 to the cost of the surgeries, this adds up to about R1.4 million over the years.”

After a fun morning, the golfers gathered at the Zimbali Country Club for a delicious meal and entertaining auction and prize giving.

Coming in first were Suresh and Nalina Valjee, Nancy Evans and Dhesath Hanuman. Claiming a close second were Elvis Govender, Devan Reddy, Graham van Niekerk and Tom Govindsamy.
Thaver thanked everyone for their continued support and sponsorship.
