Swing it, ladies!

Despite the threatening rain clouds and chilly breeze, Umhlali Country Club’s golf course was full of ladies teeing off and putting for a good cause at the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund Ladies Betterball Golf Day last week.

After the game, having warmed up at the club house with some coffee or a glass of red wine, the ladies enjoyed the festive prize giving where the winners were treated with a variety of stunning prizes sponsored by local businesses.

The main raffle prize was sponsored by Hellooow Handmade, a company specialising in hand made ceramic chandeliers.

Every bead on the chandelier is made from locally sourced clay and hand rolled by ladies from the Natal Midlands community who then string the beads onto the metal frames.

The beads are also dip dyed into various colours to complete the look.

All monies were raised for The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund.

Rose Stephenson, secretary of the Fund (herself a golfer) thanked the Club, the players and all the generous sponsors for making the enjoyable day a successful fundraiser.

“The golfing ladies are always happy to come to the party and have fun while helping to put food on the table for the orphaned and vulnerable children.

“With the state of the economy tightening its grip, charities are feeling pain. We are so grateful for help with fundraising.

“In that regard I specially want to thank the Lady Captain, Sue Ellis for her guidance and unflappable help,” said Stephenson.
