Bell and Goor on top form in Junior Series
Salt Rock's rising surfing star Sophie Bell did it again this weekend when she nabbed the U18 girls' Billabong Junior Series title in Cape St Francis
Bell took top spot after the fourth and final event in the 2017 series was completed in highly contestable 1-1.5 metre waves and glassy conditions.
Meanwhile Calvin Goor – also from Salt Rock – made his way to the final round but was pipped by Capetonian Ford van Jaarsveldt, who scored a near perfect 9.0 and a 7.87 leaving Goor needing a 9.76 when time ran out.
However, Goor was not to disappear without a peep, as he shone in the winner-takes-all VonZipper ‘Air Show,’ taking the R2000 prize for the best aerial manoeuvre.

Winning her event means Bell will be jetting off to the tropical surfing paradise of Bali thanks to All Aboard Travel. She also topped the World Surf League (WSL) Africa Junior regional rankings lists and is the 2017 WSL Africa Junior champion.
