Silverware for Ballito’s biker-boys
Three Ballito bikers tackled muddy madness at Roseleigh farm in Mid-Illovo over the weekend and came out as KZN champions.
Round seven of the KZN Regional Cross Country motorbike racing was held on Sunday and Greg Nairn, Brett Swanepoel and Bruce Swanepoel showed the rest of the province how to handle a dirtbike when all three sealed the regional championship in their respective classes.
All three riders were on Husqvarna motorbikes.
Bruce Swanepoel won the 2017 KZN Masters class, while Greg Nairn secured the 2017 KZN Senior class.
Meanwhile, local Husqvarna factory rider (and Bruce’s son), Brett Swanepoel – who rides for Pepson Plastics Husqvarna – not only won the 2017 KZN Open class but he also secured the overall win for the year, proving that a passion for dirty, high speed hi-jinks runs in the family.
Brett has been very busy this year. After a bad start to the season due to injury, he worked his way up again to finish in third place in the SA National Enduro series. He is currently leading the SA National Cross Country series in the 350cc class with one round remaining.
Brett also achieved international success this year. He was one of few who finished the Erzberg Rodeo in Austria on his first attempt and was seventh in the Gold class at the 2017 Romaniacs event.
Brett, who has previously achieved both a second and third place in the famous Roof of Africa, says he will attempt to improve on this during the 2017 challenge from November 16-18.
