Ilembe groms in J-Bay
There were 170 junior surfers representing eight districts around South Africa including an SA development team
The Ilembe Surf Riders association’s junior team (U12 to U18) together with manager Theo Viljoen, coach Quinton Jones and parents, traveled down to Jeffrey’s Bay earlier this month to compete in the South African Junior Champs 2017.
There were 170 junior surfers representing eight districts around South Africa including an SA development team.
Ilembe is the newest district to join Surfing South Africa’s body of districts and though they had entered for the first time as a small team, all the surfers participated with commitment, passion and great team spirit.

“We left there feeling positive about the future of Ilembe Surf Riders and know that we are an association that is growing from strength to strength,” said Nathalie Carbonel, a committee member for the Ilembe Surf Riders The next event is the KZN Champs from December 1-3 in Umhlanga.
In order to compete, you need to have temporary affiliation to Ilembe Surf Riders.
