Another year ‘squashed’
Another year of squash is over and the guys and girls from Umhlali Country Club enjoyed every minute of it.
The club’s squash championships were held throughout November, with the finals played last week Wednesday. Over 30 members entered the tournament.
The championship was won by Avesh Nurbadh, who beat Terry Nagel in a nailbiting final. Nagel came out guns blazing but in the end Nurbadh’s patience and experience prevailed and he was crowned king of the UCC courts for 2017.
In the Plate Final Andre Conradie triumphed over Gareth Britz to take the honours. At one stage this game could have gone either way but Conradie’s fitness pulled him through in the end.
The players and the Squash committee thanked Vaughan Basson for his excellent captaincy of the squash section this year, as well as John Boyce and his team along with the executive committee for all their support during the year.
The club wished all the squash players, their families and patrons a blessed Christmas and a prosperous and joyous New Year.
