Salt Rock’s Devin to join Pollock tourney in Sri-Lanka

The players were selected out of 12 high schools across South Africa, with over 170 pupils who took part in the Shaun Pollock Cricket Tournament.

A 14-year-old Salt Rock boy, Devin Rogers will be among the South Africa’s best U14 players going for a cricket tour in Sri Lanka next year April.

This comes after he was recently selected to be part of the Shaun Pollock U14 cricket team that will be competing against some of Sri Lanka’s best u/14 cricket clubs and schools.

“I am super excited for this opportunity and I can’t wait to play in Sri Lanka,” said Rogers.

The players were selected out of 12 high schools across South Africa, with over 170 pupils who took part in the Shaun Pollock Cricket Tournament.

His uncle, Kevin Rogers, said the Northwood School pupil is a very good batsman and a fast-left hand bowler.

“He is mad about cricket and that is why my garden is always a mess. We are very glad that he gets an opportunity to play his favourite sport out of the country.

“To have Shaun Pollock’s name attached to the tour makes it more exciting.”

However, Rogers needs R34 000 and while he and his mother, Sandy, have made good progress in raising money for the tour. However, they still need about R10 000 and they are appealing to the community to please donate to his tour.
