Feeding the future of Footy
African Bank ran an internal competition among their branches in KZN and were able to collect a total of 240 boxes of Futurelife for Footy u/15 squad players.
Footy has long had a hand in the community of the Dolphin Coast, providing the opportunity to play the beautiful game to children from rural areas.
Last week they invited coaches from their many member teams for a workshop that went a step further than just sport.
“With nutrition being a huge problem for us, we are focusing a lot on ensuring our coaches, teachers and children are assisted in improving their knowledge of nutrition,” said Footy’s Kyle Crichton.
As part of this initiative, African Bank ran an internal competition among their branches in KZN and were able to collect a total of 240 boxes of Futurelife for Footy u/15 squad players.

The winning branch was awarded a signed soccer ball from former Bafana Bafana coach Clive Barker who is involved in the Footy development program in 2018.
During the workshop coaches were introduced to ideas such as: nutritional development, identifying nutritionallack of in formation, identifying nutritional symptoms in players and a simple nutritional plan for the kids in the community.
Another very important part of the workshop centered around leadership skills. Coaches were taught better leadership of self, of players and of the team as a whole.
They learnt how to identify strengths and weaknesses, how to set goals and that leadership could be mental, physical, emotional or even spiritual in nature.
