Warriors continue to claim scalps

The Warriors went up against Manor cricket team from Stanger last week.

The Warriors Sport cricket team racked up another strong win over the weekend.

In a T20 match played at the Gledhow Grounds on Sunday morning, the Warriors went up against Manor cricket team from Stanger.

Winning the toss, the Warriors elected to bat first.

Warriors had a good start with a run rate of seven in the first five overs, capitalizing on the power play in spite of an outfield heavy with dew slowing down the ball.

In response, Manor tightened their attack and restricted the runs but were unable to take enough wickets to rattle the Warriors’ batsmen, who ended their innings on 122/5.

Ash Balchand’s scintillating 63 – which included four fours and a six – stole the show and won him the man of the match award. He was supported by Martin Naicker (11), skipper Riaz Mahomed (14) and Rishen Mathapershad (10).
Azhar Ansur was the pick of the Manor bowlers, claiming 15/2.

In the second innings, Manor got off to a rocky start with a slow run rate while the bowling attack claimed wickets at regular intervals. However, in the 10th over and with the score on 47/5, Junaid Amra stepped in and managed to steady the ship with a hard fought 32 not out, which included three fours.

This would not prove enough for the Manor team, who ended their innings on 103/6, giving the Warriors the victory by 19 runs. In the field Warriors bowler Amin Gallu claimed 11/2 from three overs and Pravin Ramgareeb 16/2 from his four overs, while skipper and wicket keeper Mahomed stumped two.

In other matches played at the same venue on Sunday, a rampant Pak International thrashed Flipside B by 46 runs, while Flipside A hammered team Magnum by 56 runs. The Flipside A vs Magnum match was reduced to 15 overs due to a delayed start.

Flipside A won the toss and went in to bat first, putting on 136/8 in their 15 overs. In reply Magnum could only muster a paltry 80/9 in their innings.
