Room to grow in Nkobongo
Nkobongo Sports Club development association was initiated in 2014 and is now under the Ilembe SAFA umbrella.
The Nkobongo Club Development (NCD) recently gave birth to another U17 soccer team, Nkobongo Sundowns, who will represent the township at the SAFA local football association in Tongaat.
Nkobongo Sports Club development association, endorsed by the department of sport and recreation, was initiated in 2014 and is now under the Ilembe SAFA umbrella.
Chairperson of NCD Philani Pityo thanked Nkobogongo business people who reached deep into their pockets in order for the team to be registered.

“Special thanks also go to Graham Soden from Spec Silica Sands in Shakaskraal who will be helping with transport throughout the season.
“He has also promised to buy soccer boots for all 30 players. We really appreciate that,” said Pityo.
He said there had been a great need for an U17 team to be formed, because the development had started focusing more on the under 15-year-old.
“The U15 team has about 235 players and we cannot rely on the bigger teams in the township to take them when they reach 16. So while we have bigger teams, like Nkobongo Madrid and Nkobongo United, we also have our own U17 team that can accommodate the boys.”
