Ballito Dolphins back on song
The Dolphins take on UKZN Durban on Friday, April 20.
The Dolphins bounced back from last week’s defeats to record two wins this weekend.
It was once again a beautiful day at Sugar Rush Park and plenty of locals came out to show their support for the boys in yellow and blue as they went up against the Jaguars.
The Jags were just relegated to this league, having played three years at the top level, so they are no pushovers.
In the first game of the day, the second team scored a 12-5 victory over their opponents after going into half time 0-0. However, two early tries in the second half and some resolute defending saw them hold on for the win.
Meanwhile the first team had a run-away, bonus point win, defeating the Jags 43-17. The halftime score was only 10-5 to the Dolphins, but a change in tactics saw the game open up in the second half.
Once the Dolphins started fully utilising the pace of their backs speedy winger Rich Mcenery used his pace to magnificent effect running in three sublime tries.

Other try scorers were Jack Severs, new lock Callum Johnstone and Danny Swarts.
Jack Severs kicked over eight points in tricky windy conditions but it was not all plain sailing for the Dolphins with the Jags twice hitting back with tries of their own soon after the Dolphins touched down twice.
“The win keeps us in contention placed in the top four and this week, Friday evening at 6.30pm, they take on a UKZN team that is full of Varsity Cup players as they try to muscle the Varsity Cup away from Maritzburg down to the Durban campus,” said Dolphins’ chairman Kevin Murphy.

The Oasis Water Ballito juniors also had their first outing of the season going to the South Coast on Sunday and all age groups recording wins, the U11 team recorded the biggest win with an excellent 52-0 victory over Queensborough.
The Junior section continues to flourish but is always on the look out for new players, so if your son is looking to join a well-coached and vibrant rugby club then head down to Sugar Rush Park on Friday evenings from 5.30pm.
