Locals came out, board in hand, ready to tackle the waves.

It was sun and surf over the weekend as the North Coast Boardriders held their invitational competition at Willard Beach on Saturday.

Locals came out, board in hand, ready to tackle the waves but it was Salt Rock’s Justin Sykes who was crowned the ultimate winner.

He was followed by Shane Sykes in 2nd, Rein van de Wall in 3rd and Ryan Balfour in 4th position.

Meanwhile, the South African Longboarding championships were held in Lamberts Bay, on the West Coast from April 25 – 30 and a small group of Ilembe longboarders traveled down to compete, including Brian Dougherty, Guy Campbell, Barry Campbell and Chris Morris.

Both Morris and Campbell made it through to the semis in the Legends category, with Barry Campbell proceeding to the finals where he claimed victory.

The team came 4th overall.
