Terisha who is a seasoned KZN cap national tournament circuit campaigner fought gallantly in a very tough large division of athletes to win a bronze medal while younger sister Yashmika demolished all opposition in her category to be crowned national champion.
The performances of the emerging “superstars” Terisha and Yashmika augurs well for their future chances of success on the WKF international stage that ultimately decides who qualifies for the Olympics going forward.
“I want to qualify for the Olympics in the future,” said gold medallist Yashmika, currently a pupil at Maidstone Primary school.
Protea athlete, elder sister Terisha, pupil of Seatides combined school, who has been selected to represent the Rainbow Nation at the World Youth Cup in Croatia during July 2018, expressed her delight and said.
“I want to win a gold medal at the World Youth Cup!”
“Both Terisha and Yashmika are destined for huge success going forward provided they continue their outstanding work ethic,” said their mentor seasoned Protea coach Brando Pillay Shihan.
