Golfing gals on the green
This event raised over R27 000 for the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund.
Keen golfers from across the country took to the greens last week for the third annual Dolphin Coast Ladies Golf Challenge.
The three day ladies-only event was hosted at three prestigious golf courses on the North Coast – Zimbali Country Club, Simbiti Country Club and Umhlali Country Club.
Organised by local resident Marthie Horn from Marwilusch Tours, proceeds from the highly successful event with 112 entries were donated to The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund.
The Orphan Fund was set up with the purpose of channelling money raised to non-governmental organisations that specialise in caring for orphans and vulnerable children within the newspaper’s circulation area.
This event raised over R27 000 for the Fund.

A number of great prizes were up for grabs, including four raffle prizes, which were won by Cathy Cawood, Corinne Cozens, Ann Palmer and Sheila Poole.
“We would like to express sincere gratitude to Marthie of Marwilusch Tours for choosing the Orphan Fund to be beneficiaries of the proceeds of this event,” said Orphan Fund co-ordinator June Mdolo.
“Special thanks also go to the tee box sponsors Richmond Plumbing, Seeff Dolphin Coast, SMG Ballito and Tiffany’s Super Spar for their ongoing support; prize sponsors for the amazing prizes which were so well received; and players who donated toiletries, personal hygiene products and cash.
“A heartfelt and resounding ‘thank you!’ from our hearts to yours!”
The event, which is growing in popularity every year, was fully booked four months in advance, and already has a number of participants eager to take part in next year’s event.
