#Letter: 20/20 vision for Salt Rock’s Mr Ice Cream

Richard Ngwane has been selling ice creams locally for more than 30 years.

Written on behalf of Tongaat’s Richard Ngwane, who visited the Courier offices on Monday:

I want to say a great thank you to Kijk Optometrists in Salt Rock who very kindly sponsored a pair of glasses for me.

They saw that I needed glasses and called me to come to the shop. When I asked what it would cost, they told me it was free. I am very grateful for their help and that I can now see properly again.

I have been selling ice creams here for more than 30 years, mostly at Salt Rock Main Beach.

People have always been very nice, helping me out with extra tips during Covid or giving me something even when they don’t want ice cream.

Thank you to everyone in Ballito and Salt Rock for your support over the years, it means a lot to me.
