Bodybuilders need help getting to Italy
They recently came back with impressive results at the IFBB KZN Open Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship in Durban.
Two local ironmen face losing the opportunity of a lifetime, competing in the Physical Culture Association (PCA) world championship in Italy next month.
Bhekani Bukhosini (25) from Shaka’s Head and Mfanufikile Kunene (29) from Maphumulo are desperately trying to raise funds for their dream trip.
The bodybuilders recently came back with impressive results at the IFBB KZN Open Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship in Durban.
Bukhosini won the heavyweight challenge and overall title, while his trainer, Kunene took second place.
Kunene earns a living training people at the KwaDukuza Fitness Centre.

The Maritzburg-born powerhouse started bodybuilding at the age of 17 when he was still a farm labourer, milking cows to earn his keep.
He began competing in 2014 and has won many bodybuilding competitions including the King Shaka Classic, IFBB KZN Ironman and came second at both the Buffalo City Metro and the Arnold Classic World Championship.
Bukhosini started karate at a very early age and later combined karate and bodybuilding. He went for his first competition in 2013 and came third. In 2014 he was unemployed and could no longer afford the gym.
“Fortunately a Shaka’s Head resident, Lucky Ndlovu, who owns a gym in the township helped me out until I managed to get a job in 2016. I am now training with Kunene in KwaDukuza,” said Bukhosini.
The two passionate young men said they have only managed to raise R5000 and they need about R50 000 to cover the expenses of the trip.
Their next competition will be the BBSA SA National Championship in Rustenburg next week.
“We really need help and hopefully we will get it soon because we are running out of time. We will be going there as a team and we believe we will do well,” said Kunene.
They said one of their biggest challenges was not having a sponsor.
