Fairytale season for Ballito United FC

The boys in grey wrapped up the league over the weekend in typically exciting BUFC style.

The story of Ballito United FC‘s first season with the Dolphin Coast Football Association is one of overwhelming victory in the face of all comers.

The boys in grey wrapped up the league over the weekend in typically exciting BUFC style, with three of their teams – U15A, U13 and U10 – all finishing without a single loss this year.

In the match with the most on the line, the U13 lads played a league decider against Juventus with both teams undefeated for the season, the only blemish on the lads’ records an early season draw against the same team.

Juventus lay a mere two points behind after seeing two draws in their season – so the boys had it all to play for.

The outcome was sealed by Jared Herman who scored a fantastic hat-trick to cement the game 3-1, earning them the title of 2018 champs and winning the grudge match against the only opponents to deny them victory this year.

Meanwhile the U15A team, who have played like giants all year, casually dealt with Newlands FC 4-0.

This senior team’s sticky defence, bursts of sudden speed out wide and pin-point penetration of the goal area were hallmarks of their season.

While many players enjoyed an outstanding year, special mention must be made of captain Sbu Yalu. The lanky teen leads his team from the midfield, where he utterly stamps his authority on every movement whether it be running his opponents in circles on attack or leaving them no room to breathe on defence.

The U13 BUFC lads won their season decider 3-1 against Juventus.

The juniors also had a team who sailed through the season without a loss, and the U10 boys certainly added icing to the cake with a 4-0 win over Stella.

In other matches at Ashton over the weekend the U15B side were held to a 2-2 draw against Magic Future Stars and ended second on their log. The U8 tykes enjoyed a free-for-all goal fest which ended with an 8-5 win against Stella, and the U10 Dolphins squeezed a 2-1 win against Stella

The following teams all ended on top of their logs: U15A, U13, U10 and U9.
