Local karatekas take on nationals
A team of 81 karatekas of the ISKF Stanger clubs travelled to Tongaat to take on karatekas from across the country.
Local karatekas came together in Tongaat recently for the 28th annual International Shotokan Karate Federation (ISKF) National Championships.
A team of 81 karatekas of the ISKF Stanger clubs travelled to Tongaat to take part in this event against karatekas from all nine provinces.
Senseis Tarzan Niacker, Johnny Pillay and Kuben Pillay said they were proud of all the karatekas that put in the hard training and dedication in the preparation for the championships.
However training does not stop and they will be working even harder in preparation for the 2019 National Championships which will be held in Gauteng.

All three instructors agree that with the ever increasing crime rate and drug abuse in the country, having skills in self defence is essential.
“On behalf of the instructors, club management, coaching staff, parents, and fellow karatekas, we congratulate all participants. A big thank you to the instructors and club managers of the dojo for all the preparation and dedication for the championships,” said Pillay.
The ISKF Stanger dojo trains on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5pm to 6.30pm; the Glenhills Dojo trains on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5pm to 6.30pm and the Stanger Manor Dojo trains Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5pm to 6pm.
