Big Hill Run a roaring success
More than a thousand athletes came out to take part.
The fourth edition of the annual Seeff Big Hill Run was a hit over the weekend, with more than a thousand athletes coming out to take part.
Surprising all, the male winner of the 10km race, Bongelani Mkhwanazi (34 minutes 36 seconds), in particular wowed spectators as he was not only a junior runner – but won the race barefoot!

Simphiwe Zulu (1:17:34) and Emma Pallant (1:22:06) won the 21km event, with Jenna Challenor being the first woman to cross the line in the 10km race.

For the first year, the organisers decided to make it an evening affair, with the races getting underway at 4.30pm.
“We felt that it would be nice to enjoy the evening atmosphere together in true Dolphin Coast Striders style,” said race organiser Arthur Bertram.

The funds raised during this race will go towards the Striders’ sponsorship programme.
“Every year we sponsor runners who would otherwise struggle to afford the kit and other costs required.
“It’s not just about performance, but about who gives the most effort.”
