Pumped up for change at VuvuFit – Shaka’s Head

It was a sweaty, sandy, high energy display of fitness uniting people at the launch of VuvuFit last weekend.

VuvuFit is a project of Vuvuzela NPC- a registered non-profit corporation – and a division of The Slev Group based at Linc Campus, Salt Rock.
Group CEO Craig Slevin said VuvuFit was a platform for creating renewed hope in the community.
“This initiative is designed to empower previously disadvantaged, emerging fitness entrepreneurs with a ‘gym in a box’. This is an easily accessible and affordable way for these organic community leaders to make a significant social impact while earning a living,” said Slevin.

“We hope to address youth unemployment rates by creating profitable business opportunities and encourage cultural integration by holding regular, friendly competitions with other future boxes in our area.”
He said the box was not only focused on improving the physical well-being of people.
“This is an opportunity to plug in various programmes to grow mentally, emotionally and spiritually fitter, stronger and healthier communities.”
Box leader is Shakas Head’s fearless Taekwando fighter and instructor Lucky Ndlovu who met Slevin in 2014 while he was raising funds to compete overseas.
“We have been working together for a long time trying to find a way to give people access to a healthy living and get guys off the street and away from bad influences and rather let them concentrate on training,” said the passionate Ndlovu.
“VuvuFit is our new home and anyone is welcome to join our gym and the martial arts classes.”
