Ballito Footy kids join hands and hearts

Footy recently hosted its first junior indoor netball match on Monday, March 4 in perfect weather.

Umhlali under 11 girls took on Curro under 11 girls in a very exciting game.

The spectators were treated to end-to-end action as both teams traded point for point in a nail-biting game played in an awesome spirit.

Umhlali walked away victorious by 1 point.

Term 2 will see Footy hosting more junior indoor events (netball, hockey, cricket and soccer).

The Footy Netball League came to another exciting finish last week as the mighty Ballito Beaches proved to be too strong for the Golden Oldies and were once again crowned the Netball queens of the park.

The socially competitive netball league happens every Monday evening from 6pm – 9pm with a mixture of teams ranging from under 15’s, mixed teams and ladies teams.

The new league will kick off on Monday, March 25. Anyone looking to join as an individual or enter a team, contact Kyle.

After the match in February between the under seven Ballito Footy kids and the under seven Footy kids from Shaka’s Head at the Footy field the Ballito kids were shocked to see that most of their opponents had to play the match barefoot.

They requested a rematch and brought all their boots and tekkies that they no longer use, to give to their Shaka’s Head opponents. The kids were over the moon with their ‘new’ footwear and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the match.

The kids academy will kick off again in the week starting on April 1 for boys and girls (aged 5 – 16).
