Top riders make their mark at Nissan Winter Classic

Boasting some of South Africa’s top show jumpers, this year’s Nissan Winter Classic hosted at the Shongweni Club from 13 to 17 June saw a number of local riders competing in the event.
Joining the 2019 line-up Ballito’s Caitlyn Mayer was one of 300 local and international riders and horses who took part in the five-day competition consisting of 39 showjumping events.
A mainstay of the local equestrian calendar, the event has enjoyed much growth since its inception in 2011 and offers a prize purse of R480 000.
It is the second of five elite events that comprise the South African leg of the FEI World Cup Jumping qualifiers.
