Join the Umhlali Impis to hone your hockey skills

The Impis have been competing as a club since 2016 with the establishment of a men's league, with the women's team joining in 2019.

The Umhlali Impis are back on the field this year and are inviting all North Coast hockey players to join the team.

Whether you are a first-timer, part-timer or hockey star, the club has a home for you and it is an excellent way to get active with once weekly training sessions.

The Impis have been competing as a club since 2016 with the establishment of a men’s league, with the women’s team joining in 2019.

“We were initially entered into the 5th division but have made steady leaps since then and were promoted to the Super League last year,” said team-member, Joanne le Roux.

There is an indoor and outdoor season, with junior hockey also available, meaning there is really no limit on who can join.

The men’s senior trials have just been concluded, but if you would like to try out for the women’s senior team, there are trials on April 7 and 14, with a cost of R40 per player.

Training for junior teams begins on April 6 and continues every Wednesday until June 15, with a tournament scheduled for May 8.

Mini hockey (U7-U11) costs R950 for the season, while the youth section (U12-U13) costs R1 050.
